how to become invisible

how not to be seen

project carried out durant an artists'residency at Var Program in San Francisco

The water is freezing, the air is saturated, metallic white, immersing the woman’s silhouette in a ghostlike halo, like an echo of the spirits that haunt the place. At the very heart of San Francisco Bay, the wind rushes past, making sheets flutter and waves break at the hulls of the boats.

Between the sky and sea, a face is barely seen, a woman transformed by France Dubois disappears, translucent, pale and nearly transparent, based on an imaginary place filled with light.

It is the start of a journey towards something intimate and infinite, a return to the source ,resembling a baptism, the the outlines of the body are erased to blend in with the surroundings. Outside limits, beyond borders, this original woman reminds us how fragile and essential our lives are.
